Our union is officially certified! The Massachusetts Department of Labor finished counting our cards, and determined that a majority of graduate workers have authorized CORE-UAW as our union! We filed for certification in March with over 70% support from graduate workers and postdocs.
Postdocs and graduate workers gathered for our second Town Hall in March.
We want to thank everyone who participated in our card drive and in the months of discussion among postdocs and graduate workers that brought us here. Together, we demonstrated the strength of our community joining together to dignify the work we care so much about, and the importance of our combined efforts as postdocs and graduate workers to fight against attacks on academic research funding. We stand united. We will have more information soon regarding next steps in our campaign and how you can get involved in determining our bargaining priorities.
For now, we want to invite you to a small celebration to recognize all of our hard work and contributions. Please join us at Bay State Brewery and Tap Room at 6:30 PM Friday, April 18 to raise our glasses together.
