As many of you are aware, the initial bargaining goals for UMass Chan postdocs were ratified by a majority of our members in July. Since then, we have been working hard on drafting articles that will improve our pay and working conditions. The next step in this process is for the bargaining committee to meet with UMass Chan administration to begin negotiating the terms of a contract. We have been communicating with UMass Chan to get to the bargaining table as soon as possible. Two weeks ago, the university cancelled an offer to bargain on September 15th and 16th and then retracted an offer to bargain on the 26th. We are happy to announce that our first bargaining session is confirmed for October 8th.
We will continue to provide regular updates and solicit your feedback as bargaining progresses. If you would like to get involved with upcoming contract negotiations or have questions regarding bargaining, please reach out to us at info@umasschanresearchersunion.org.
