The nomination period for the Coalition of Research Employees-UAW Graduate Student Bargaining Committee is closed as of yesterday, May 13, 2025. We are pleased to announce that four (4) members accepted nomination to serve on the CORE-UAW Graduate Student Bargaining Committee, and four (4) members accepted nomination to serve on the CORE-UAW Postdoc Bargaining Committee. This means that the following people are elected by acclamation and will serve on the Bargaining Committee:

NOTICE OF NOMINATION AND ELECTION FOR VACANT POSITION ON CORE-UAW BARGAINING COMMITTEE

Nominations are open for one (1) vacant position on the Bargaining Committee. All eligible CORE-UAW supporters [all UMass Chan Graduate Students who are currently employed by the school who have signed a CORE-UAW authorization card or filled out the bargaining survey] are automatically nominated for the CORE-UAW Bargaining Committee.

Any eligible CORE-UAW supporter who wishes to accept the nomination for the vacant Bargaining Committee position must indicate their intention in writing by e-mail to elections@umasschanresearchersunion.org. Acceptances must be submitted no later than 5pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

Candidate statements:

Each candidate may write and submit a candidate statement of no more than 250 words. These statements will be posted on the CORE-UAW website if there are elections. Address, phone number and email address must be included, but will not be counted toward the 250 words and will not be shared publicly.

It is the responsibility of the candidate to submit the candidate statement. All candidate statements must be received by the time nominations close at 5pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

Election Dates, Times and Locations:

In the event that the number of eligible candidates who accept nomination does not exceed one (1), such candidate will be deemed elected by acclamation and no election will be held.

If more than one (1) eligible candidate accepts nomination, an election will be conducted, and the candidate who receives the highest number of votes will be elected. All eligible CORE-UAW supporters [all UMass Chan Graduate Students who are currently employed by the institute who have signed a CORE-UAW authorization card or filled out the bargaining survey] are eligible to vote. Members of the bargaining unit who have not done so may fill out an authorization card prior to voting.

The election will take place electronically on Thursday, May 29 from 9AM to 9PM.

A run-off election, if necessary, will be held on Thursday, June 5 from 9AM to 9PM.

Voters shall be entitled to vote for a total of one (1) candidate.
