We’re happy to announce that the grad student bargaining committee will be meeting with the UMass Chan administration for our second bargaining session on Thursday, October 30th at 2-4pm. Please RSVP here if you plan to attend as an observer. The more of us we have in the room, the more powerfully we can show the university administration that reaching a fair contract is urgent.
Protections for student workers are more important than ever. On Thursday, Oct. 16th, the UAW, along with two other major labor unions filed suit against the Trump administration for their surveillance of online speech and attacks on visa holders’ First Amendment rights. So far, academic workers from across the country have been supporting legal action through the UAW by filing against the cancellation of NIH and NSF grants involving DEI-related subjects, supporting litigation against Trump’s policy of deporting workers for protected speech, and more. Now is the time for us to stand together and advocate for greater protections both on campus and on the national level.
