Tldr; Come to our potluck at 5pm in NERB 1100 to hear an update on bargaining at our Thanksgiving social!! All are welcome to attend, with or without a dish to share.
Today, our Bargaining Committee had our fourth bargaining session with the UMass Chan Administration, where we reached a tentative agreement on Personnel Records. This article establishes a fair process for providing postdocs with access to the information contained in their employment files and regulates the storage, access, and maintenance of personnel records.
UMass presented proposals reflecting current policies on Paid Time Off, Sick Time, and Leaves of Absence. We presented a proposal on Recognition that ensures that all postdocs employed by UMass are covered by this contract. You can find all of the proposals and counterproposals on our bargaining tracker here.
We also scheduled several bargaining sessions in the new year; January 7th from 2-4pm, January 22nd from 1-3pm, February 4th from 2-4pm, and February 18th from 2-4pm.
We are making good progress with three tentative agreements over just four sessions. However, we have presented 14 proposals for which we are still awaiting a response from the UMass Administration. Show your support for our fight for a fair contract now by coming to our next bargaining session on Monday, December 8 at 10:00 AM—RSVP here.
